This is such a sad thread... :(

I had my 1976 Gibson Les Paul Custom stolen back in 1987, I bought it used in 1983 and paid a whopping $385.00 for it... - somebody broke into our church between rehearsals and swiped a bunch of stuff.

I have some wonderful instruments now and I NEVER leave them anywhere for any length of time, but I still miss my old Gibby...

Yes, when I read these posts I relive my rage, my feelings of loss and of being violated. My family was poor. I worked two jobs after school to help the family and to buy my own clothes and things. It took me a long, long time to save enough money to fulfill my dream.

Not my Strat, but my 84 Ibanez Roadstar II was stolen when my old roomies and I had a house party.

Again it was a junkie friend of a friend. Seems a common theme. Anyway, the guy's brother and a couple friends brought it back to me a couple days later.

The guy's brother was one of my roomies' friends, and knew about the theft. when he saw his brother with my guitar he grabbed it back. I was pretty happy. Although i already had my Strat and have only played the Ibanez maybe 5 or 6 hours total since 'I got the Strat (Feb 94,) it was the first guitar I bought myself, first i played gigs in bands with etc. So it has great sentimental value to me.

You guys are making me glad I didn't list my guitars in the "How many guitars do you own" thread. My very first Fender was stolen in a break in while I was at Church one cold rainy night in 1983. It was a 82 Fender Bullet (a Strat body and a telecaster neck) with a natural ash body clearcoat and white pick guard. I was so depressed. I moped around for weeks.

Hmmm. You don't think there are persons here with larceny in their hearts lurking about the Forums do you? I listed my guitars.

Yes and sadly they took the car with the guitars, amps and whatever else might have been in there somewhere.

I guess that when you're on the road, there are times when you're alone and have to leave your car locked to take care of business.

The thieves picked the lock on the passenger side door of my Chevy Celebrity back around 1993.

On Jume 22nd of this year, while me and my band were playing at a St-Jean Baptiste party (in Quebec, you could say it is the equivalent of your
July 4th),

Tabernac! Dat's what u get for playing da St . Jean Baptiste party.

Here's what you do boys. Number one...the whole band doesn't leave at once and leave equipment unattended. Number two: If you do have to leave, even just to take a leak, buy the biggest guy in the room a drink and ask him if he'd watch your stuff for you. Has worked wonderfully for me, and I've dragged vintage gear everywhere. Nothing is sure-fire when it comes to theft, but Chalise! Watch out for your own S&%*.
