I bought a used strat and the pots just kind of float in the pickguard. There's should be some type of washer or nut to thread onto the pot to hold it in place on the pickguard. Does anyone know what these are called and/or where I can get them?

Thank you.

What kind of strat is this? American made? Foreign? The reason I ask is because if it's foreign the parts will be metric and trying to find those pot nuts in metric is gonna be pretty hard. I can never find little screws or whatever for my mexican. Hardware stores are shocked when they don't have anything close to what I'm looking for.

Your best bet would be to go your local guitar shop and ask if they have some lying around. If they do, I'm sure they'll sell'em to ya.

Nuts for pot were the easiest to find during the 60's & 70"s ...

The nuts that are usually used on pots can be bought at a hardware store. Just look for ones that have an inside diameter of 1/4 inch. This is the usual. Or save yourself some gas and look on old stereo equipment, etc. you have. Pull off the knobs, and underneath some of them, there are bound to be nuts. I have plenty of extras lying around. I could mail you one if you emailed me about it.
