First off .... This is NOT an ad. I am just sharing some information with all of you about a really good ATA case company I have found and am getting my amp case from.

They have one heck of a nice ATA flight case for strats, and I would most likely have ordered my strat case from them, if I had not found my Gator G-Tour series case first.

I am copying and pasting a post I made in the Marshall amplifier forum to illustrate the type of quality that Safe Cases produces.

I know that many of you who visit here are touring musicians and I hope thie following info will help you.

Quote:

I have recently done business with a company that is based in Houston, Texas by the name of Safe Cases. I am no newbee to ATA cases, and have owned a bunch of them, including some from some of the well known case makers.

I have got to say that I am very impressed with the people at Safe Cases.

I am not sponsored by them or connected in any way with the company, so don't go thinking that.

They are building my case for my JCM601 Marshall amplifier and although I cannot state the price here, I will say it is the best price I have been quoted from anyone for a ATA case. I am going to copy and paste the specs for it here and I will post their web link and phone number. I would be thrilled if anyone decides to contact them, if you would mention that I sent you. My real name is my forum ID (I am very straight up and transparent), so just say Wally Dow sent you or recommended Safe Cases to you.

Anyway ... here is the info on the specs on my case and how to contact them:

"Hi Wally,
This is an item that we keep in our store. While is is a custom
built item, you should always be able to find it in the store.
When you are ready to buy, or if you have any other questions,
feel free to contact me at jenny@safecases.com.

Thanks and
have a great day!"

OR visit their web page at:

Safe Cases Web Page

Their address is:

SAFECASE CO.
4200 FM 1960 W #1039
Houston, TX 77068

These people went out of their way and above and beyond (and all of those cliche's) to satisfy me as a customer and actually took a personal interest in doing so. Not many people I have dealt with have gone to these lengths.

I am very very impressed with them and highly recommend their company.

Hell, at 65 years old this kind of service makes me feel all warm inside ... LOL

I will take pictures of it and post them when the case arrives.

The picture of their guitar case. This is how it would be built. Note the plush lining:

Why am I so sold on ATA cases?

In 1987 I was on tour with the "High Gear Band" from Nashville, Tennessee. We were just leaving Casper, Wyoming on our way to do a contract show at The Sundowner Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

We were on the Interstate traveling late at night, when our van which was hauling our equipment trailer (which has just been rewired totally within the previous week) started to develop a problem. When we inspected the underside of the van, we discovered that the catalytic converter was glowing red hot. We were only about 20 or so miles out of Casper, so the decision was made to turn around and have the van fixed in the morning at Casper.

It was approximately 3:30 AM local time.

We turned around at a nearby ramp, and proceeded to travel back toward Casper with our emegency flashers on both on the van and the trailer.

All of a sudden Ron Lutrick, who was driving the van exclaimed, "Hold on .... we are about to be hit!". He turned the steering wheel to the right and "BANG", we were struck from the rear by a fully loaded semi doing around eighty miles an hour. It had hit the trailer, which had absorbed the shock and because Ron had turned the wheel to the right, we were sort of violently, but safely pushed out of the way. The semi totally destroyed the trailer and grazed the left rear of our van as it sped through us. The driver did stop.

We got out of the van (I have to say that we were extremely pissed off, but thankful to be alive ... if not for turning the steering wheel to the right, we would have all been killed)

Almost all of the equipment was totally destroyed ... except for my stuff that I had ATA cases for.

My G series guitar synthesizer pedal board was in an ATA case, and it was the only piece that survived the wreck.

Musical equipment was spread all over the place in pieces for about 300 feet from the point of impact. My pedal survived the wreck.

Now you may understand why I am a believer in ATA cases. The tweeds look nice, and the plastics seem good, but the stuff we had in those type of cases did NOT make it through the wreck. I choose protectivity now over "cool looks".

This is also WHY I recommend ATA, and I mean the thick walled plywood laminate with all metal edging. Not the plastics that some companies will claim will do the job.

Take this advice for what it is worth to you.

BTW ... we collected a lot of insurance money ... which our (ahem) booking agent thought he should get part of. We told him to go get screwed.

I do not like agents until they prove to me that they are human.
