Hi, i'm the Jerm.
I live in the netherlands, and, to get to the point, i can't find a dealer anywhere near my home. I'm aiming to buy a "Fender Deluxe Stratocaster Player" in honey blonde with a rosewood neck. Buuuut, appearently, they don't have a Fender Dealer in my sad, rainy, country... Or if we do have something that fits that description, i really can't find it.
Because, when i try to go to the "dutch" fender site, i simply cant. :? that's because i get redirected to the german fender site. To make this clear, there is a huuge difference between the Netherlands and Germany. The language... We speak dutch, they speak German. So I don't understand $@!& bout what this site is telling me.
And when i click on "kunstler" (which appearently means "dealers), i only get the dealers in england, or italy. W T F!!!
so i'm really frustrated right now, because im in love with that guitar. i need it... they do have it in other stores, but i saw this american site, it was 629 dollars. which, currently is, about 500 euro's. in the stores in holland, the stores bought it long before the dollar crisis, so it's really expensive. €760.

sooo, anyone? solutions? free shippings from america? could i get the store to order one, would i get out cheaper? or should i just shut my dutch mouth and wait till i win the lottery and i'm able to afford that 760 euro's... i'm 15, so i'd rather put those 260 euro's to a better use. (apart from the fact that i don't even have 500 euro's atm.)

help.. please...

P.S. sorry for the post in, what probably is, the wrong topic, but i couldn't find any topic that read "dealers"

Hi Jerm, welcome to the Forum.

Where in the Netherlands are you? I'll come to Holland and eat an entire Edam cheese right in front of you if it turns out there's no Fender dealer in Amsterdam at the very least, and probably lots of other places.

Loads of cool people playing Fenders in Amsterdam in my experience, after all.

Your nearest Fender importer is indeed in Germany, which is why you are being forwarded to the German website. Though I notice that those pages are available in Dutch too - just click on the flag at the top.

By the way, Kunstler means "artists" not "dealers" (kunst = art). However, unlike the Fender UK & Ireland site I don't see a dealer finder on that German website. How annoying. I'd send them an email and ask them for a list of Dutch dealers: you want to buy their product, after all.

However, if you really can't find a dealer nearby there's good alternatives online. Not far away in Germany again (sorry) is Thomann ( http://www.thomann.de/ ) who will sell you anything you want in any language you want and ship it to your door.

Not feeling friendly to your German neighbours? Then a quick Google search found me the guitar you want in Britain for £438 (€522) plus European shipping from SoundsLive, amongst many others:

http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=6574

I have bought guitars online from these people and received an efficient, friendly service.

If you want to go that route buy soon because that stock will have been aquired when the dollar was much weaker against the pound. New stock is likely going to cost more.

Good luck - C

thanks all for your comments, useful or not useful. Ceri, i really appreciate all the work you put into helping a troubled dutchman out. although, if you know exactly how fast i'd have to buy that guitar on the British site, soundslive, that'd really help me out. because in germany it's still a lot more expensive than on soundslive. ( 666 againts 565 euro's).
If you happen to know this, or if you could tell me where to find this info, it'd be really helpful, coz i don't have the money ( yet), so I might have to lend it.
any opinions on the guitar in question? know anything more beautiful, with more quality?
or more useful tips?

Hi again, Jerm. I've had some very good times in Amsterdam over the years (and not what everyone's thinking...) so I'm always ready to help friendly Dutchmen.

Some websites will tell you whether the shop actually has the guitar in stock - but that SoundsLive site doesn't say. I bought a guitar online from them last year and it arrived safely in about two days, so nothing to complain about.

If I were you, I'd send them an email and ask about delivery. You could also explain that you don't have all the money yet - they may let you put a deposit on the guitar and then you have it for the price you see now, rather than what it might cost in the future. The way international currencies have been moving recently I think the price will go up soon (though I may be wrong).

Also, if you want to shop from Britain you could run your own search on UK Google - go to www.google.co.uk and type in Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster MN, click the "pages from the UK" button, and you will get lots of results. I haven't found a better price than SoundsLive, but there are many others the same or close.

Mind you, I would try to find the guitar in Holland first. It is always better to buy from somewhere you can easily take it back if there are problems...

I'm afraid I have no experience of that particular Stratocaster. I will leave it for someone else to answer that part of your question.

Good luck to you - C

Since i'm not able to send you a private message, i'll post a reply:
I'm really glad that you've had a nice time in my flat country! I also find it really nice that appearently people from other countries are able to have a nice time here, without havint to smoke pot. :)
(although, if you DO want to smoke pot here, i suggest you do it quick, because "they", meaning the dumbass government, are talking about illegalising it.)
But you should really consider to also visit other places in the Netherlands. It's really nice here, where I live, too! I've already ordered the guitar, my parents "payed before me"... Although i have to pay it back, ofcourse.
At the German site you gave me, although I (unlike many of my older fellow dutchmen) have no issues against the Germans, it's just more expensive out there!
I don't know about payment though, because i said i'd pay by "bank transfer", but I didn't have to pay yet. But i'll see about that in 3 days or so. Thanks again for your help. My view on the Brittains, although it was pretty high already, has increased.
also, i'd like to know what you have to do to increase your "guitarist rating". This is because i find it rather de-motivating to be called a "hobbyist". Although there is nothing wrong with hobbyists, it'd be safe to say that music is my life...
And why is there no way of personal contact between forummembers. Now i've had to bother all other forum members with my well- meant thanks to you. (sorry bout that)

Hahaha! No, though I do very much like those Brown Cafes, but more for the Grolsch and uitsmeiter. And I don't want to admit how many times I have visited the Heineken factory: I am a very good customer of theirs!

Also in Amsterdam I have seen Haitink conduct the Concertgebouw, seen the State Ballet, the State Opera, visited the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Rembrandt Huis, Anne Frank's house... Good grief, this is not very rock 'n' roll, is it? :D

Back to the thread: I took a little look on Google and found many guitar shops in Holland. For example:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&um= ... sults&cd=1

You can read those shops' websites better than me; but I am seeing plenty of Fenders for sale there, so I'm sure some of them are official Fender dealers. Mind you, you're right, some of those prices look pretty high...

Wow! You've even managed to spell uitsmeiter correctly! I must say, I'm really impressed!
Well, it might nog be very rock 'n roll, but it most certainly is cultural, and culture should be the greatest source of inspiration for every musician, so basicly, i'd say it ís rock n roll! I'm a wise you man you know!

I've also tried that, ofcourse, but to my great disappointment, i'd have to admit that your country is a lot more generous than mine.
I've also been in almost every typical British culture, but tasting haggish was a bit too much for me... THe day before christmas i'll be back in London again. You should really try, Utrecht ( a Dutch City), Hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles we put on our bread), Sinterklaas( a national Celebration in Holland look it up on wikipedia, you might find this interesting) and ofcourse all our other brands of beer. Although, i'd have to say that i prefer Grolsch and Heineken too. ( don't try Amstel... yugh)

We'll you're probably going to see a lot of new posts from me, if I feel like it!
What'd you recommend in England? (more specificly, London)

Hi Jerm: well that's easy! I'd recommend you pay a visit to Denmark Street in London where you will find most of the good guitar shops. Regent Sound is especially good for Fenders, but many of the others stock them as well. Take a look in Vintage and Rare Guitars for some historic Strats and Teles at amazing prices!

Then just around the corner in the Charing Cross Road is another guitar shop, Macari's. It is not huge, but it has some select items.

On Wardour Street is Chappell's music shop. Not so hot on Fenders (though they have some) but very good for Yamahas and other stuff.

Ivor Mairant's guitar shop in Rathbone Place is especially good for archtops, jazzy type guitars and the recently reintroduced Fret-King guitars.

All of that is within 10 minutes' walk. Many other music shops in London, but that should keep you busy.

One last suggestion. The famous department store Harrods has recently got into top end guitars. Visit that part of the store and you will see some truly remarkable Custom Shop guitars, as well as a selection of famous players' instruments - genuine and strictly not for touching.

I believe we have some other stuff to see and do in London. I leave it to the Tourist Information office to help you with that...

Good luck! - C
