All this relicing and now I think I am off to the hardware store to get some sandpaper and start relicing one of my project strats. I wonder how the relic look would look on the Electron Blue finish? May require a lot of detailing work to make it look good. Hmm...what to do?

Nice Guit.
It's alwoys fun "customizing" your instrument. You built yours from the ground up.

Well done

Man, the day I put a scratch or nick on my finish, I'm going to blow a gasket and cry. I just don't get the relic thing, I am not busting on you guys that do, maybe some day I will see the light.

Congrats on finishing your project.

Hey Banana don't sweat it.
If you play your guitar it's bound to get dinged a bit.
If you gig at all it's unavoidable (it can get ugly out there).

For myself, I don't go for "pre relic'd" guitars because in my opinion they are "faked". Each of the battlescars on my axes has been earned and has a story to go with it. They have not been artistically positioned and created to give it a played look.

Yes I try to keep my instruments in as good condition as possible. Just like I take care of my car, my guns, and my other tools. But like anything else, with use they are going to show wear.

I've read a post or two where people claim that playing a "beater" guitar makes them feel that they have a higher level of musical credibility. All I can say to that is "Major Self Esteem Issues".

Personally I base my opinion of a players ability on their music not the worn condition of their instrument. That being said, I do pay attention to the quality of a players gear.

I admit that I'll assume that the guy who shows up with a good guitar (Fender, Gibson, Ibanez etc) and a good amp (Fender, Carvin, Marshall etc) is probably going to be a better player than the guy that shows up with a Daisy Rock guitar and a Behringer amp. I'll also be the first to admit that I was wrong in that assumption if the dude with the low end gear is fantastic.
