[quote="bluez81Love,
Thanks for your support. I just finished laying down 4 scratch tracks for different song ideas this evening. I just went in and played from the heart & didn't worry about any kind of structure. This inspiring idea came from reading Dec. 08 Guitar Player magazine article with Carlos Santana talking about playing from the heart - I would advise any guitarist to read this you will learn something and be reminded why you picked up the guitar to start with.[/quote]

Nice. Let it flow. I've seen Santana live maybe 6 times. He's amazing. He plays through his soul. It's like he's got no secrets ("Inner Secrets)?, ahem). In the GP interview he talks about breaking up with his wife. How many other famous musicians can you think about who would talk about their feelings in an interview?
I'm gonna go listen to "Europa" now...

Love,
Todd

I've also read that Carlos Santana automatically gives a percentage of his income to a fine charity he set up for those less advantaged than himself. And I seem to recall that it was a pretty ample percentage at that, nothing merely token.

"He can afford it", one might say. Sure he can - and so can many others who nevertheless are not nearly so generous.

Seems like one of the good guys to me...

Cheers - C

Yes, he does a great job as a Human. We could use more human's like him, couldn't we?
And he's run a really interesting career. When he was really hot in the 1970's, he would put out a "pop" album, then a "jazz" album. One for his casual fans and one for his soul. And I would classify myself (at 49 now) as a young casual fan back then. I ignored the LP's without hits and bitchin' solos! Still, he released a lot of LP's which I'm eternally grateful to be able to listen to now.

Love,
Todd
