How 70s retro!

This shall probably be a great boon to MIM sales as a lot of MIM players and prospective buyers are turned off and/or outright embarrassed by having the Made in Mexico statement and the MNxxxx serial number prominently on the face of the headstock as part of the Fender Stratocaster logo. The 'new' logo of itself, stands out more too. There's no doubt in my mind that FMIC knows all this too and that's why the change was made.

At the risk of sounding like I'm sucking up, that's what I love about FMIC at large: They are always listening, always thinking, always tweaking, always improving; the vast majority of times, without a price increase. They honestly care about their customers!!

I'm already wishing my MiM had a logo like that...if they come out with Std. Strats that have the 70's headstock then I may just cave. :P

How could we not like it? It says"FENDER". How bad could it be?

Love,
Todd

Up $50 on Sweetwater. Hope there's more improved than just the logo.

Looking at the specs, they've added in a tinted finish for the neck. Gives it a very nice appearance. Other than that, it has these values-

Vintage Styling,
Fender Transition Logo,
Parchment Plastic Parts

I don't know if that differs as much as it did with the old standard model, but that's just what I've read. But of course with new features brings more work, and with the weird economy, the price will be jacked up.

At least it looks nice though! :D

[quote="bluestube"]: Remember the competition! PRS is building an absolutely awesome series of guitars in Korea. If you have not handled them personally, I suggest you do. They are right in the groove with their MIA counterparts in terms of fit and finish.

Speaking from the point of view of one of the ancients, who remembers when there was only one Stratocaster to be had, today's buyers can aspire to a fine instrument at an affordable price.

That is why I recommended the Standard and a budget Fender amp with moxie like the Frontman to the individual with the $800 budget.
