Hey Stratheads-

I think I may need a new neck for my MIM Strat- I want a Fender Neck and not a knock off- Does anyone know if it is even possible or get a neck directly from fender (through a local dealer of course)????

Please let me know-

I would just go to Warmoth and buy one. I would not call them knockoffs and if you want to spend some extra money you will get a better neck then the one that was on your MIM Strat when you bought it

You can take it to an authorized Fender repair shop. They can give you a quote on a new Fender Neck. They may even save you some money and repair the neck you presently have. Good Luck.

This is an excellent reply. Get it checked out first at an authorized repair shop. You did not say why you thought you needed a new neck? I recently brought my highway 1 to an authorized repair shop and thought I may need a new neck. Had it set up. Had the nut filed out to take 10's, 2 frets on the bass side needed filing and two different frets on the treble side needed filing. This is now a whole different guitar. :D

Is the fingerboard maple or rosewood and what is the overall condition?

Hey Fellow Stratheads-

Thanks for all the great replies. I did call a licensed Service Shop in my area and they said it would be no problem. I will also have them take a look at it and see if it actually needs replacing.

After 8 years of constant use some frets are showing wear and the nut is in need of some care. I also was interested in just trading out the maple fretboard for a rosewood...kind of a Strat makeover....

I really wanted to keep this guitar "All Fender From Fender" as much as possible- it's a personal thing.

Can you just buy these or do you have to go through the whole "process" to get them? That would be a nice upgrade to an MIM. Any idea on price? My local dealer told me the only way to get a replacement was to get it approved and they would have to do the replacement and send in the old neck?

Dear Tonefight:

The replacement Fender necks are quite expensive, about the same price of a Korean made Squire Stratocaster, really do not know about the other details, please check with your local dealer. Thanks :)
