Tea is the common method in the Uk. Or water thats had cigarette butts soaking in it for a couple of months but its disgusting. You do need to create a key in though.

Go to starbucks and get a mocha small size make sure it only has two small packets of splenda in it.. and also ask for a pump of cherry syrup.. once you have all that add some whipped cream on top then go home... put all your guitar parts on the table and drink it ... and then you will feel better and with more energy to start doing whatever you wanna do do the parts

The internet is chock full of sites on artificially aging your guitar parts.

Google is your Friend!

First, why do we tell people to go elsewhere get answers to questions about guitars ????? Is this not a guitar forum ?????

As far as the relicing snobs, we are humbled by your ability to wait decades for that played in look and feel, however please allow us lowly fakers to enjoy our craft.

I used a rock tumbler to age the metal parts on my 52 reissue Tele.

the key was to find some old rusted chain (small) some rocks from the wifes rock garden and a few screws from the garage, I let it run for about and hour and presto instant age.

It even works on plastics, just much less time in the tumbler.

If you want corrosion, think acid in its many forms.

If we don't start answering these questions, they will go somewhere else and possible never return.

and remember if you dont have something nice to say..............

Very good advice.

Also in my previous post, I did not mean to sound snobbish with my last response. I play every day and I know that for me it is just a matter of time before I relic my guitars on my own. I hate replacing parts before I have to.

Some other ideas for relicing guitars is to take it apart and throw the body around a bit. Not too hard, just enough to put dings and mar the paint a little. I watched a video on youtube that someone took from behind one of the custom Fender shops and they use this method. Some people have told me that they leave their guitars in smoke filled rooms to yellow the necks. Back when I smoked I burned my neck when I let my cigarrette in the headstock. Using a rock tumbler on the knobs will give them that aged look.

The point is have fun with your guitar and keep playing. Do what you need to to make your axe yours.
