Welcome to the Forum.

You'll have to be more specific.

I own a 1986 MIJ '72 RI Strat and I love it!!!

yes, hi! I have one from 1987 and I wonder what history it's behind it, and why it was moved to Mexico.

thanks for your quick reply l!!

It's not so much that "it was moved to Mexico," because "they" continued to make Fenders in Japan, it's just that they stopped selling the MIJ Fenders in the USA. Fender preferred to have their Mexican made guitars be the "budget" priced line in the US guitar market.

There are folks "importing" them and selling them on Ebay.

You might be able to find a Japanese music store that will sell and ship one to you.

I have purchased guitars from Japan directly.

You're welcome. I wish I knew of a site for information on MIJ models from years past.

There are online translators out there ... just cut and paste the Japanese text and you get some English out. Sometimes it takes some imagination to figure out exactly what was meant, but it's better than nothing! I've been navigating Japanese websites for a long time that way.

babelfish is one such site

try it out!
