Don't let anybody tell you that you're stuck in Mexico. At $800 you clearly can get a Highway 1, just like the other people have been telling you.

True, but you won't have anything left over for an amp.

Do you have a guitar that you're playing right now? If so, you're so close ($200) to an American Standard Stratocaster, that I think I'd hold off and save just that little bit more, and get that. It would be a lifetime guitar and well worth that little bit more of a wait. And then you would prevent that "Gee, I sure wish I would've gotten a.............." later on. Anyway........just a thought. It's the way that I think about such things.

+10 I couldn't agree with you more. Plus, if you get an American Standard, you'll have a really solid platform if you want to do mods later on down the line. You'll have a guitar with a great body, and in my own opinion, the best playing neck fenders got.

hi, I want to buy a stratocaster guitar, but i only can spend eight hundred dollars, what's the best model of stratocaster for this price, and what's the best amplifier for my strato. any can help me? thank.

I have a great tip for you.. I don't know where you live, but if you go onto Craigslist, and go to Boston, there's a guy on there whose been trying to sell his American Deluxe for a while, he started at some high number, like $900 or something, BUT HE'S DOWN TO $600. Its red, with the H/S/S, so the humbucker is there for you too. If its in good shape, you cant go wrong. The american deluxes are the top line of their regular production models.
P.S. you need to put in Fender American Deluxe in the search category, and watch out, because he has two postings for it, one for $600, and another one for the same guitar for $750, he lives in Shirley MA. Good luck
