Hey guys, I'm new on these forums and I'm not sure if anyone has talked about it, but the standard strats seem to be refreshed a little. New logo, no MIM on the front, and curiously, the "original contour body" decal on the headstock. I've always wondered about the varying contour thicknesses of strats (why 50's strats seem so thin and sleek, whereas standard strats and late 70's cbs strats, well, don't). Wonder if that little decal means anything. Anyways, they look great and I hope retailers have them before X-mas.
Any thoughts on what else has been upgraded with them?

I know they recently re-vamped the whole standard line of teles and strats. They put in a thicker trem block, bigger frets, and shield them in the paint. I think they come with gig bags, too, which is nice.

+1 to the above -- The MIM Standards got this as the "2006+ upgrade":
Larger trem block
Med jumbo frets
Fully shielded
Gig bag

But ... was this what was asked?

Nah, I'm just saying look at the pics of the MIM standard strat and tele on this website, and you'll notice some changes (i.e. logo is now black instead of silver, and they have the contour body decal on the headstock on the strat). Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about these changes. Also, on musiciansfriend.com, the standard strats and teles are listed as limited quantities, meaning they must be clearing out for the new stock. I'm just curious, and I probably spend waaaay too much time thinking about these things!

Very interesting observations. There are definitely some differences. The black logo, as you mentioned, plus the nut width is now 43 mm like the American strats, whereas they used to be 42 mm. Also, has there always been "special switching" for the HSS model? You got me intrigued now. All I'd really like them to do is add that 22nd fret though.

No, good question. And GC's website is showing the MIM standard as a clearance item right now.
Sweetwater is showing the new one - at a higher price - and touting it as new and improved....check out their spiel....

I see Sweetwater still has the Fat Strats at the 399 price looks like the new ones increase is 50. across the board on the Standards.

It is rather subtle, just a couple of spots

"this new version includes shielded..." etc.
