Oh my, the poor thing needs to take a bath. It looks like the B string saddle reached the end of the screw.

How much would you pay for it? I would love to get it cheap then metaphorically, as you say, "give it a bath". Get it all nice and clean. Would be fantastic.

Hard to tell the condition of the neck and frets from that picture but if it is in fact in playable condition it's still good for 500 UK or 740 USD. I'd go for it but not without seeing in it person.

Does anyone else here sees any issue with the B saddle being so far in?

The B saddle does look a bit worrying. but it would be easy to fix right? As to the frets, I will certainly play the guitar before I buy it.

Hopefully one of the pros on here will give his input on the troubling saddle. It could be a sign that a proper setup could not be achieved without screwing the saddle in that far, in an attempt to get the intonation right.

Can anyone else confirm my nonsense?

Where are the other knowledgeable guys now right? The price is definitely right, when are you going to check it in person?

The seller was originally wanting £1100 for it. I first emailed him when I was drunk, offering him 600, he said the lowest he would take was 1000. A month later he got back in touch, i offered him 400/500. Im going to try go see it some time next week.

Well good luck. Hopefully someone else here will look at the picture and offer his input as well.

I've had a 74 Strat since 1980 it it still plays great. If you can get the 78 for a good price why not. Play it first to make sure that you like it. Some of the "gripes" about the 70's era guitars are legit but most of them are more "bitching because of change" than anything else.
