I can say that my J-Bass makes no sense to me. (And there are no numbers on the knobs, of course.) Mind you, I rarely change volume with it. I tend to use the tone knob or change from a pick to fingers to make a change in volume.
But - and, again, I tend to do silly things - between the reversed volume knobs and different amps and my cable which has an on/off button on it, I sometimes have a hard time determining what to hit first when I plug in and get no sound. Again, I AM a lefty.

PS I don't change the pots on the J-Bass because, duh, it's totally stock. Doesn't mean I won't complain, of course.

Love,
Todd

As far as I know a left handed audio tapered pot (entiometer) would be quiet a trick; but I'm sure there out there. As far as I know all the pots fender uses are the same so far as what happens when you turn the knob.
Sounds to me like a pair is flipped on the pot you're turning.

Here I am again: I must say you all are really helpful: I hope I can give a little help back, in some way, to anyone on this forum. I'll check the thread!

Well, the jack of the Clapton has 3 and not 2 wirings.
The schematics are not so clear about it: two wirings should be soldered together, the third alone.
I tried all the different combinations of those wirings because a miswiring to the jack was my first idea. But: no changes.

I think I'll try again; it's easy cause I can make it without removing the pickguard.

I'll let you know: may be I didn't try all the combinations!

Cheers guys!

Steve

Ah, indeed, I'd forgot the stereo jack. But still not hard to work out what goes where. In addition to Nikininja's page, here's Fender's own wiring diagram, if it helps:

http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/ ... 02BPg2.pdf

It shows the colors of the wires, so there can be no doubt about how to do it...

Good luck - C

Not so much a stereo issue with respect to sound...the jack powers up the preamp when the cord is engaged and shuts it off when removed. It is, in fact, an on/off switch.
