Hi Folks,

Today I had the special treat to try the Blonde Gold Plated Hardware Commerative edition of the '57 - looked great and the sound was one of the best I've heard from a strat. The v-neck was surprisingly comfortable as well - I have short fingers and I always wondered how it would fit.

I think I will be placing a order for a 2-tone sunburst '57 reissue very soon. Anyone else like these guitars? They feel very different from the AVRI '62 that I had.

Any comments, experiences, advice - greatly appreciated.

Shepp...

i have a AVRI '62 Strat in Oly White and it is one of my most favorite guitars of all time...

i looked at the '57's and liked them alot to be honest...i mean they are gorgeous and just play so wonderfully...but in my opinion strats look their meanest with Rosewood and a thin neck makes my strat special to me.

i have a bunch of gibsons and thus a lot of thicker necks...when i play my strat its like a new experience...it breaks up the monotony of playing the same size neck all the time...

i am also a believer that if you want a thicker neck and maple fingerboard get a tele!
the AVRI '52 is out of control and the only guitar that maybe could have stopped me from getting my '62...unless a sherwood green '62 Hot Rod was available...

ultimately do what you want!
you can take all of our suggestions with a grain of salt because ultimately we are not you...but i am one to make sure i get all perspectives before making big purchases so i can understand where you are coming from...

I have not played this but judging from the quality of other AVRI's, I wouldn't doubt its good review. I, myself, own an AVRI 1952 Telecaster. 5 stars!

I wouldn't classify this Strat as a '57 AVRI since it's a limited edition model with its own unique catalog number and serial number sequence. As advertised in the Summer 2007 Frontline in Home catalog, this model was created exclusively for Fender authorized dealers and commemorated the 50th anniversary of the legendary '57 "Mary Kay" Strat. I acquired mine last August and called Fender Customer Service to learn when the serial number was assigned to my Strat. About 1500 '57 MK RIs were made between June-August 2007. Apparently, the majority were sold at blowout prices through GC/MF.

Fender makes so many '57 Strats RIs, it's hard to imagine this LE RI becoming a future collectible unless very few survive 40-50 years from now. Regardless of future value, I consider my '57 MK RI to be one of the best MIA Strats I've ever played.
