I'm looking into replacing the stock pickups in my MIM strat. I play it through a Vibro Champ. I was looking at getting Lace Gold Sensors, CS 69's, Texas Specials, or any Vintage Noiseless. I want to be able to play stuff like SRV, Hendrix, bb king, albert king, buddy guy, led zeppelin, and the doors. Basically anything blues and classic rock. any advice would be appreciated.

Greetings and welcome!

This subject has been discussed time and time again. Unfortunately, you will never get a definitive answer due to the fact that tone is purely in the ear of the beholder and there are as many valid opinions as there are guitarists at large.

Your best bet is to listen to as many Stratocasters with the models of pickups you are interested in as you deem necessary and make your selection from there.

The best advice I can give you is to go to a guitar store and try guitars that have the pu's you want to try. I have played most of the ones you mentioned and they are all good so it is a matter of preference. I didn't like the lace sensors though. They didn't respond like a regular pu when I backed off the volume. Texas Specials are awesome, but I needed quiet pu's as you probably will for classic rock. My strat has vintage noiseless and I love them. Don't forget other after market manufacturers like seymour duncan, dimarzio, etc. I've heard great things about dimarzio's area '58 pu's & they are also noise cancelling.

I highly recommend Fender's Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups. I had a set put into an MIM Standard Telecaster two weeks ago and they sound fantastic. I can't believe it's the same guitar. The SCNs impressed me so much that I'm going to have a set installed in my Classic Series 50s Strat this week.

I own a Lone Star Strat with Texas Specials and a Deluxe Player's Strat with Vintage Noiseless pickups but the SCNs are my favorites. If this Strat pickup upgrade sounds as good as the Tele's, I will have a new favorite guitar.

Thanks for all the responses guys! After thinking it over a little more I think i'm just gonna wait on changing the pickups. I guess i just went a little pickup crazy as im sure some of you have experienced. I think what i'm gonna do is get a ts-9 tubescreamer. if you guys have any opinions on this i'd be glad to hear them
