I even hate to bring this up based how much has been written on guitar strings. I'm new to the guitar and music industry, have a strat and want to change the strings. The back of the guitar has the string P/N as 005 6298 000, which I can't find anywhere. I would prefer to keep the original sound for know and would just like to change the strings with as close to the original as I can find. Does anyone have a thought on which Fender strings would mimic the original strings? Thanks!!

Most Fenders come stock with 9 gauge strings. Like mentioned above, supper bullets for strats and ball end for teles.

Of course there are all kinds of brands out there, if you want to try others.

I put in a Callaham after market tremolo block. I found that bullets would not fit in the recesses for the strings. Too shallow. So I had to go to ball ends.

I take a lot of crap for this, but I like Elixir's. The cleans, especially, sound silky smooth on my 52 Tele RI. I've used everything under the Sun. I like Super Slinks but they corode to quickly for me.

Dude they come set up with .009 gauge strings. As far as brands go, I like D'Addario.

The do come with bullet 9s, but I changed mine to D'Addario 10s -- I'm more into tone than speed. Though a trick some legends (e.g., SRV) have used is heavier guage strings and then tune down a half step.

One other point, since you're new. If you do change the guage, you should have the intonation, etc. checked.

I use Fender Regular Bullets .009's. I can never find the Super Bullets that came with the guitar. One of the options you may look in to is seeing if a on-line music store to see if they have that particular p/n. I also use D'Addario's and really cannot hear too much of a difference.
