hi bluez81,

there's a lot of individual tastes by everyone.

If you have e-guit. try following if it feels good for you:

string high ca. 1 - 2 mm (mili meters) higher as standard
strings 0,11 or 0,12 kit
neck adjustment (thicker strings, open tunings)

If your guit is equipt with a tremolo (for simple tuning action):

fix the trem with a wood or paper block backsides or draw the screws from the spring claw more in the wood.

good luck :D

I'm absolutely rubbish at slide. It's one of those things I find hard to practice because when you don't get it right it's so painful to hear!!!

You might wanna have a heavier gauge string as well. I use 11's with the action a little high and it's perfect.

You need heavier strings. .011 min. .012 or better preferred. Around .014-.016 neck relief and raise the action to the point where is won't buzz with the slide but is still alright to fret notes with (around .100-.125" at the 12th fret.) This is just a baseline setting. Find what you like by experimenting. I use .013-.059 and this works good for me. Everybody has a different touch and feel and what works for one person won't for another. Try different slides on different fingers as well, brass, chrome and glass all sound different and have different nuances while using them.

Thanx everybody. My brother has an Ibanez SZ320 that he never plays so I am using it now. My strat & my epi sheraton are my main guitars, so I thought I would set this one up for slide. It has duncan designed hb's in it so I put .011's on it, but when they wear out I will probably try .012's. I am playing with a glass slide and I am still working on the action to find a sweet spot.
