I have heard the term "slab board" in reference to Strat rosewood fretboards, and I'm not sure what it means. I know this has to do with wood thickness, but can find no real info on it. Just curious.......

A slab is the opposite of veneer. A slab has a flat bottom, on vintage guitars they were usually thicker, the newer slabs are not as thick. The veneer boards had a rounded bottom. Someone correct me if needed :)

1959-1962 The maple neck was planed flat and the rosewood figerboard with frets and inlay was glued to the top of the neck. This is known as a slab top or slab fingerboard.
1962-1983 The maple necks are rounded to the neck's radius and a thinner piese of rosewood veneer was glued to the neck . This is called a veneer fingerboard.
1983 to date Fender returned to the slabtop fingerboard design of 1959 to 1962 era.

I got that from a Fender identification sheet that I have. Easy way to explain it.
