Randy Rhoades orchestrated his guitar solos like none other. Yeah, throw the "Mr. Crowley" solo in there, too.

Hey Stratheads-

Ok...I like Peter Framptons solos in "Do You Feel" and "All I Want to be" - Both Live and from their original albums.

Santana "Black Magic Woman"

SRV "Voodoo Chile" and "Tightrope"

Warren Haynes...just about everything he does is golden.

Just a few of many...

-anything Mark Knopfler, Albert Lee, or Danny Gatton ever played
-EC: 'If I Needed Someone" 'George Harrison in Japan'
-EC: 'Ramblin': EC Was Here
-Chuck Berry; "Sweet Little Rock and Roller"
-Sunny Landreths's new CD
-Arc Angels' CD
-Danny Kalb 'The Blues Project's' cover of "You Can't Catch Me'
-Steve Vai and Company on the first Crossroads concert

....fifty years of rock and roll and I could go on, and on, and on... 8)

One of my favorite solos is probably "Fall of the Peacemakers" by Molly Hatchet. Another one is probably "Just Another Nightmare" by Shadows Fall.

The solo in "Wet Sand" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers is my favorite. I'm not saying it's the best, it's just my favorite. :D

Either 2nd solo from Comfortably Numb (because it just seems sooo raunchy)
Or the solo at the end of Sweet Child O'Mine (because in a time of average guitar players trying to overcompensate by playing fast, that solo's beauty was in it's simplicity, and you can tell just from listening that it's all feel coming through.

My two favorite solos:

Crossroads - EC with Cream, and
Stairway to Heaven - Jimmy Page with Zep

Stairway To Heaven

Here's why;
Usinig a Telecaster held together with spit an mojo, Jimmy fires off the first phrases with signature Page licks based on the A Minor pentatonic scale, but lands on a very ambiguous F. Then rips off an Albert King move that would make SRV jealous. Fallowed by a nearly impossible cascade of triplets and 16th note runs that ease into the classic blues call and response between a simple slide guitar and pure Jimmy blues riffing. Then the last possible A note on the fret board bent to Heaven makes Stairway to Heaven the tastiest solo in Rock and Roll History.

The ultimate solo has to be the 1st solo from comfortably Numb.

the timing, touch and feel is just perfection.
I know its a relatively short solo but its just pure.
