I am looking at a Custom Shop guitar and the seller does not have a COA. Where can I confirm the serial number to make sure the guitar is all original and not just a neck plate bolted on to a guitar.

I attempted to code it using the guitar project site and the guitar came out made in Korea. The serial number starts with a CN.

Fender responded that CN was a proper number for Custom Shop guitars made in America.

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new here, 18 years old, and i bought a Fender Stratocaster 3 years ago. My cousin is quite good on the guitar and has played for about 15 years, and when i bought this guitar second handed he said that it was like a champagne at the price of a soda.
I've tried to find as much info as possible on it, but all i can tell is that it's mexican made, and from 1993 or '94 (3 or 4 years younger than me :o ).
Serial is MN3120061, it has a black body and pickguard, and it seems to be customized a bit - remember it's second handed. Could anyone tell me what the 'standard' specs are for these guitars or post a link?
I paid approx. 550$ acording to the currency in those days, more like 650$ in todays curency. Was it a champagne given a soda's price tag?

That would be strange for them to do that all the reference material I have say that is Korean Serial number used on Fender and Squier. I would not think they would use a serial number prefix that has all ready been used else where within the Company for a different production model. Also here is a link to a good site. If you go to the bottom and look at the serial number ref. you will see CN= Korean
http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fender.html
And here is some more that say Korean made.
http://www.guitarnucleus.com/fenderserial.html
I think I would Question who told you that for more info
These thing are easy to research because of the popularity of Fender guitars.
And here is the CN serial Number on this page here on the Fender Site also says CN = Korean

CN is used as Korean Fender guitar but also was used by Fender Custom Shop. I just called them as I am about to put down money on a 1994 CS Fender relic that does not have a COA but all the markings lead me to believe it is the real thing. The serial number is CN4xxxxx. I got nervous when I saw the Fender website lists CN as Korean built. They told me that that is true but Custom Shop also used this number (and others). I am going to have the guitar thoroughly looked at once I receive it to make sure it is the real deal, but CN serial number is a legit one (at least from my research).
