[quote="Chicagoblue"]I understand completely and since I have started to frequent these pages it is important to learn the distinction amongst the different players, buyers, collectors out there.

One of the questions I will put to my friend when I see him again is whether or not a composite instrument such as this can be legitimately offered as a Fender Stratocaster if all the parts are genuine Fender. In this case a Warmoth body as an authorized Fender replacement part is another part of the question. I know that you are aware that Warmoth's licensing agreement with Fender permits the use of the Strat and Tele headstock shape but not the logo.

Doc

I love oddball colored Strats to begin w/, so
i've always liked the Antigua finish, but your
Antigua/Rosewood combo is the one i'd want.

I love the big 70's headstocks that
everyone else seems to hate too.

Gorgeous.

The price of that Clapton sig is ridiculous.

As far as I know, there's no such thing as an authorized replacement body, because, as you stated, Warmoth's licensing agreement is for Fender's trademarked headstock shapes.

That Warmoth body should be marked "Warmoth" in the neck pocket. That neck looks like that from a Highway One. It's a beautiful Antiqua recreation.

I believe the guitar probably looks much nicer in person then what the pictures show. A finish like that is hard to judge by a picture alone.

It also re-enforces some of the observations on a recent thread regarding fret board colors. In this case, a better choice than maple.

That is one of the tastiest looking Strats I've ever seen! (YMMV!)

At the Arlington, TX show this past fall there was a particular vendor that had a massive display of Antigua Fenders. It really is a color that I think looks much better "in the flesh" than in a picture.

Chicagoblue - I give you 2 thumbs up and 5 stars for that build. I really like what you did!

Thanks for the kind comments. I agree that this is a color that looks even much better in person. Authentic Antigua's start to yellow over time and then the color starts to change. With this being a new finish is was just pristine and the matching burst on the pickguard was really cool too. What was cool about this one too was that it sounded really great. Much was the C/S pups I am sure but the TBX just seemed to make that guitar crisp and clear. For anyone that cares, this one sold for 1200.00 back in Sept of 08. The Fender version came out shortly thereafter. I would never have picked out this color combo on my own. The body and pickguard happened to be available for sale and it just came to be. Maybe someday, I'll have to make another.
