I really dont like that finish. The black hardware makes it look like a 80's japanese copy too. $5000 way too much for a worldclass guitar that looks like a £150 knock off.

Yeah i know im a philistine.

I happen to think that is one breathtakingly beautiful instrument...

Wow, that really surprised me! I wouldn't have guessed that that was coming from Fender in a million years.

What's next, a paisley Eric Johnson?

Or maybe a poka-dotted Yngwie?

Can't quite imagine that would be the first one I'd grab upon entering a music shop. Eric hasn't actually been seen playing one that looked like that - has he?

Still, handy for desert camoflage situations. When you don't want the enemy to know you're there. A tweed finished amplifier always works well in that sort of scenario, too.

Maybe Eric's been touring Iraq?

Thats one I'd have to see in person. We all know how finishes can look much different in person compared to a website or catalog.

Ah, now I read that the Antigua finish on that Sam Ash one was originally produced in the 1970s. That explains it: we all did things in the '70s we'd rather forget...

May your election turn out as you wish: I'm too tired to stay up for any more of it. Likely you'll still be counting when I awake...

G'night all - C

If it's true that you don't remember the original Antigua strats, you are quite lucky. My friends and I thought them quite hideous looking.

But the years have changed me ... I don't mind the looks of them now.

Haha! And if I had (a lot of) spare cash then these days I might consider buying a top end Parker Fly. Might...

Weird how our tastes change over time, isn't it?
