Sounds awesome! I also find that the brige pu works well for a Steve Cropper styled motown rhythm. (Think Wilson Pickett's "Ninety-Nine and a Half" or Albert King's "Born Under a Bad Sign"). I do have to use a touch of my strat's mid-boost as well w/this, but it is almost tele-like while still sounding like a strat.

I play my strats the most, but I also have a Thinline Tele that gives me a deep, rich tone, with double humbuckers.

Yeah! 8) My other electric guitar is an Epiphone Elitist Sheraton, so I know a little about what u r talking about. Mine is semi-hollow w/mini-humbuckers. I set it for a bassy jazz on the neck pu, and a biting tone for a similar motown rhythm that I use with my strat. It's airy tone lets the chords ring better than the strat for this tone, but overall the strat is #1.

I didn't vote because I love several: 1-bridge only; 4-neck/middle; and 5-neck only.

The bridge pickup sounds great with distortion. You can get some excellent classic rock sounds from it. But I love 4 and 5 too!

I tend to use the neck/middle most -- nice clean sound, which is my normal style. But I will occasionally use the neck only and sometimes even the bridge only when I want that Kountry Twang.

I mostly use the bridge and middle position. Does anyone have a good recomendation for amp settings when using the neck position. I have a MIM strat and a Blues deluxe.

I voted "Other," because I've played a Strat with 3 push/push switches, instead of a 5-way blade switch, which allows for all 3 pickups to be engaged at the same time. Talk about a tone monster! I'm planning to modify my older Strat with 3 mini switches, as well as with Seymour Duncan Lipstick pickups.

Matt

I haven't played a blues deluxe yet, but there is one thing I have tried with several other tube amps, including some fenders. Keep the mids at about 10:00 to 12:00 position. I once read that SRV didn't use much mids on his amps, so I tried it. But your bridge pu will probably sound a little more nasal and bright with this - I like it, but you may not. You can always use an OD pedal to put mids back in for the bridge though. I also keep the gain down to a mild & slightly gritty overdrive rather than a lot of overdrive. I use my strats mid-boost or an OD when I want to add a lot of gain for leads. Hope this helps

I mostly use the neck position.
I use the "in between" positions the least.

I use the bridge when I need that screaming trebly cutting sound.

Well, it appears the neck pu has been voted king of the strat pu's. And while I favor my neck pu, I think it is important to remember what Ceri posted: Why paint with only some of the colors in your paintbox. All colors of the strat rainbow serve their purpose.

I must say I am quite suprised that there were no votes for either humbucker options. I figured with all the strats out there now offering humbuckers there would at least be a few.

I must say - I was expecting something like this - but I thought it would come from Ian Sheridan first! You surprised me Doc!

Usually the bridge HB for me (for most rhythm work and such) and then the neck for my leads above the 12th fret..I NEVER use the middle

I replace my stock MIM neck pickup for a Dimarzio HS-3 which sounds great but needs alot of overdrive boost before you get to the amp..looking to replace my stock HB soon too..although it already sounds decent to me
