I am just interested in what pickup position is most used on strats right now. I would also love to see your details and opinions on your favorite pu position.

Mine is the neck position (SC). I have vintage noiseless pu's in my strat. This position coupled with my 40-watt all-tube traynor gives me the right blend of medium overdriven rudeness and wicked strat voodoo.

Lovin that neck position. Gives me the blues-blues rock sound I'm after.I'll sneak in a little extra quack from position 2 and 4 for taste. I'm running a bucker in the bridge, so that's a whole different animal. 8) Mike

I use the neck/middle for clean most of the time. With overdrive, I usually go up to the neck pickup and back off the tone knob just a hair. Also, I keep my 2nd tone knob backed off to around 4-6 for when I go to the bridge pickup for some bite. I too have Vintage Noiseless pickups and I think they're just grand. I don't see any sacrifice in Strat tone by going with the Vintage Noiseless. I've never played the SCN's though.

All of them. Why use only some of the colors in your paintbox?

(Though I paint a lot of my pictures with the neck pickup...)

Cheers - C

My Strats have different pups, so it varies and changes frequently and I agree with Ceri....all of the above.

I usually play through my bridge or the bridge/middle pick ups. I fiddle with all my pick ups going for different sounds. That's the good thing about Stratocasters, the variety of tones in all the positions.

I use the middle pickup position the most, as does some guy with the initials EC.

S1 switching gives you a pile more combination :)

I switch up as needed, depends on if I am playing rhythm, trying to play lead.
After a blues sound, or rock, or folk, working on getting a surf sound (so far failed at this terribly but I blame the built in reverb unit in my amp)

I picked other, S1 has 10 possible combination, and right now I am all over the place :)

Neck primarily, and neck/middle if I'm picking up a hum. You could remove the bridge pickup from my Strat, and I'd never even notice!

For a stratocaster I say the bridge single coil for sure. It gets the best strat sound to me.

I love and use them all. I tend to use the middle only position more than most people though. The Silver Lace sensor through my Rectoverb give a very nice thick, growling, super dirty, very gritty tone that I can't get with any other guitar or any other position.

If I had to pick one favorite, that would be it. But all the others are very close as well.

all of them,
ill start with bridge for the rhythm part on a blues rock(or b/m)
then stinging leads with middle pickup, and soloing neck pickup.
all in the same jam.
 i seriously need a good wah pedal... :?

I bought a Dunlop Crybaby Classic about a month ago for $100 and I am loving it. It may lack a little sweep than some more expensive models, but for almost half the price it does great. It has the same fasel inductor & true bypass switching as many of Dunlop's signature crybabys.

I too like all pickup combinations on my strat, but I favor the neck slightly more, especially for a Hendrixish rhythm.

I play rhythm guitar, so I like a deeper tone, therefore I use the neck pickup the most. Although I do play around with different pickup settings at times. I use the bridge pickup for surfer songs (with a touch of reverb tossed in).
