Hey guys,

I wrote earlier that I was going to use a squier for a Clapton project guitar. I think I have changed my mind, not about the porject, but about which guitar to use. I have a powerhouse strat that has a boost similar to the clapton model. The body is the same wood, the parts are all the vintage style parts as the clapton, it has a maple fingerboard and classic logo. It doesn't have a v-shape neck though, but I think I can deal with that. I think I will just have that body painted instead of upgrading all the other stuff on the squier. I think I'll hold onto the squier maybe for a John Mayer project strat, as it has a rosewood board on it.

Thanks!

Isnt the powerhouse boost a 12db. Good idea to leave it as it is and just mayerize the squire mate.

It is a 12db boost. But about a year ago i was reading a forum where they said if you cut part of the resistor that it would take it to the full 25. It worked, can't remember now where I saw it or which resistor it is, but it does work. Granted it doesn't have the noiseless pups in it, but it soounds good. As far as the mayer project, I thought I'd like to have it replicated like the black relic he has, but my squier is blue. So i'd have to get the paint off of it and have it painted again....so maybe down the road.
