hello.

heres what happened.

wanted les paul for ages. had my heart set on it. have done for years.

so been planning to buy one for xmas.

went to guitar shop and played various les pauls. cool, but
then i was drawn too this gorgeous honey blonde highway 1 stratocaster.
ive never played a fender before and
literally within 2 seconds of hearing that strat sparkle, my mind was completly changed. 20 minutes on and i was putting a deposit down on a brand new fender highway one stratocaster...
what happened???
oh and i looove the maple fingerboard. it plays its self really.

so my first time ever playing a fender stratocaster, and i buy it.

i cant wait to get it.
:D
anyone else got 1 of these?

Welcome aboard Louis. You've done the right thing! It's easy to fall in love with a Strat. Be careful though. Tele's are pretty sexy too, once you've played your Strat for awhile, try a Tele (you should start saving now for a matching Highway One Tele)

Welcome and congrats. Fender guitars have a way of becoming a part of you. Even when you thought you liked another brand. I play a Strat or Tele 90% of the time, and my SG the other 10%. For a long time I didn't even want to try a Fender. When I finally did everything changed.

[quote="louis1"]hello. Hello Louis!! Been playing Strats for over 50 years now. The guitars you mention are like comparing apples and oranges. They each have their own voices, their own pluses and minuses.

I find the Stratocaster to be just right, and they are not all the same, so you have to find the model which suits you. Apparently you have found one that fits.

I presently own an '89 Clapton, a new Gilmour NOS and an '02 LP Custom Shop Heritage Classic. I expect that will be it now for a long while.

Doc.

Nice! Those are the magic words that will get you hooked for life. When you can find a guitar that plays itself for you, when you can feel that connection with it where you don't even have to think of what to play, things just come right out all day without any thought involved, you've found the magic guitar for you.

Most people never feel that, really. They just pick the one they can afford in a cute color and learn to like it. That magic connection is different, and will keep you happy for the rest of your life. You pretty much CAN'T put it down.

Glad to hear that! And welcome to the forum :)
