Hi
I've been playing acoustic for about two years, and i'm ok... for example, i try my best NOT to play open chords and stuff, and I play John Mayer stuff ALOT. My question is that which one of the strats have thicker necks? cause I found out that i can't play those regular electric because the neck is too tiny and my hand's used to the width of acoustics...

thanks

Oh, boy, that's a toughie. You will have to go into your local music store and try out a few (dozens) of models.

I'm not sure there really is a great variation of neck sizes among the many models, so if you're looking for really big, you might be disappointed.

Good Luck in your search, though.

I remeber that the earlier Jeff Beck Strat has had "half baseball neck".
The newer productions has "normal" necks.

Other brands:

Ibanez SZ series or Framus Diablo has a bit more "flesh" necks.

Like Orvilleover wrotes check some models in your local music store.

Good luck :D

Your best bet is to try a strat with a V-neck, they have a little more girth. Also SRV's have an oval neck which are thicker. Fender modern C necks are still thicker than your average electric. Plus, I stopped playing electric about 8 years ago and only played acoustic untill I decided to play electric again, I got used to it quite quickly. Now i play my strat 99% of the time, and thats about 5-6 hours a day. At least I did until it got stolen yesterday. :(

I think you'll find its how the neck fits your hand, more than how wide the fretboard is, if that's what you're talking about. Really try the V necks.

People in here can give you ideas on what might work for you, and give you a start on which models to keep your eye out for.....but since some necks don't feel right to you, I think only you can answer that. Like mentioned before, I'd go to some music shops, and try a lot of different guitars. Even talk to the sales people there and describe what feel you're looking for. They might be able to pull a guitar out that works for you.

I dont know much about necks but what I can tell you is that my fender mexican 60's reverse headstock strat has a neck that feels so nice and feels to me like an acoustic guitar neck :P:P

Try a 70's classic series strat. Have a u-shaped neck, and those tend to be the thicker ones, based on my experience.
