I dont think its just down to the rwrp middle pickup Telebass. The whole rwrp thing wasnt used much till after 1990 was it. Other pickup sets aren't rwrp, noiseless, 69's, 54's and the 57/62's. Whilst rwrp does make a difference its not the difference of the 3way sound that i hear. Although i hasten to add the rwrp sound does come through on the 3way as does the 3way sound too.
Sorry if i sound utterly analy retentive.

Hi Ceri, I'm in Tavistock. Worked at Hartnoll Guitars in Plymouth up until a couple of months ago as tech, now doing it on my own. Recommend BKs wholeheartedly, and any problems, pick up the phone and talk to Tim who winds 'em!
I'm a bass player, even to the extent of barely ever playing guitar, but I still have a Strat! Once had a MIJ Jerry Donahue Tele also. I should NOT have got rid of that...

Yes, good sprinkling of Brits on this form, a nice mix of folk.

Fair enough niki, no worries. Electrically, there's no difference at all, apart from the size of swich contacts, etc. I'd be willing to bet that if you took a 3-way axe without any RWRP and put the five-way in, you'd not notice it...

Hi, man. Your the second here just from Tavistock! Howboutthat. Did you see Joe Bonamassa when he played Tavistock, summer last year? One of my all time favorite gigs: what a night.

I spend half my fortnight a few miles north of Totnes. I posted a picture of the Plymouth Gin factory on the Forum T-shirt thread...

Cheers - C

No, didn't go, and it's like 300 yards from my house! I rarely go to see live music any more - too busy BEING the live music!

Well, that's the honorable answer, to be sure. I don't think it would be against the Forum rules to mention forthcoming gigs (though I stand to be corrected on that)...

Guitarist is in Oz at the moment, so next gig is 28th November at the Phoenix, Callington, over the border in Cornwall!

I agree. Theoretically, there should be no electrical difference.

If you hear one, however, go with it and make it work for you!

BTW, positions 2 and 4 are often called "out of phase." While this isn't true (with a properly wired guitar), there is comb filtering involved because of the different positions of the pickups. The comb filtering gives small "comb teeth" like dips all across the frequency response curve.

Indeed, if you hear it, go for it! Comb filtering, yes that rings bells! Forgotten too much of the theory and terminology after all these years!
