this may be a dum question but I honestly never gave it any thought 'cause I never owned one.
Just got an Amer. Std. Strat & the gitar strap it came with has a string tied to one of the ends. Can anyone indulge my ignorance and tell me what the purpose of the string is?
Is it strictly for pulling off the strap?

thanx

The string on the end of most guitar straps is used to tie one end of the strap off at the neck of a guitar behind the nut if it does not come with a strap button on the front of the guitar. This is mostly used on acoustics. I used it once to tie my tennishoe off when I broke a shoe string.

I also just bought an American Standard HSS Strat and would like to attach the included strap. Can I assume that the end with the lace is the one that attaches to the guitar by the neck end?

Also, this is a Fender strap. Is it a good idea to get strap locks for it? Are there locks that will work with the buttons already on the guitar? I thought I read somewhere that they are "lock ready." I really don't want to drop my new baby...

Straplocks are always a good idea if their used properly. Make sure that strap is removed before you lay the guitar on a table or worktop to adjust it. Or even change strings. You wouldnt believe the amount of dented guitars ive seen. All caused by people catching the strap as the walked by.

Thanks, Nikininja. Great name, by the way. To doublecheck, though, would the side with the lace go on the neck button?
