scn's in one strat, vintage noiseless in the other. The tele has a series paralell switch which gets rid of loads of noise too.

what noise.

Only use the bridge pup for biting leads and use my pinky to move the switch up to 2 when I'm thru so I don't have that noise. Very rarely use the neck pup by itself.

Sure it bugs a bit but that's what extra grounds, and shielding tape are for. I fixed the 60 cycle hum problem.

I use the neck pup most the time and the hum just ain't that bad. If I need a quieter axe, I just grab the Deluxe with the SCN's. 8) Mike

I guess the noise can be a bit annoying with fluorescent lights or a lot of gain. If it gets to me I just turn myself about 90 degrees and get rid of most or all of it. I don't really consider either my Strat or Tele to be noisy guitars though.

My MIM with no shielding is pretty noisy but my '78 is very quiet. A bit of noise is part of a Strat...

I found one solution but it is a bit extreme.

Check out my HHH triple humbucker strat I posted on this forum today.

Also the pickguard has additional shielding around the pup area's and i used heavier ground wires then factory and very good solder joints.

Not for everyone obviosly but I got rid of the hum.

As far as sacraficing too much "strat" tone..can't say I notice anything different other then more output, still sounds undeniably "Strat". I also tapped the neck pup with a switch so if I desire a lower output conventional strat tone for clean soloing I have that option..but a little normal single coil 60hz hum comes in as soon as you tap it, which is to be expected.

My 04 AmStd is pretty quiet unless I'm very near a high noise source like flourescent lights or the lighted palm tree on my patio. The large amount of wires in that creates a nasty hum ... but moving as little as 4 feet away solves the problem.

I had a mim about three years ago and don't recall that as being excessively noisy either. But I should mention that I'm 56 and with the usual modest hearing loss, so I probably wouldn't notice a slight hum unless in a very quiet room or right on top of the amp.

I have noiseless pickups on my American Deluxe

My MIM strat and Tele has a bit of a hum, but it's not a bid deal to me.

The noise from single coils are no big deal and never really was. Sure, at times the hum can be a tad annoying but once everyone starts playing, it's pretty much irrelevant and undiscernable. This whole 60 cycle hum thing has been elevated into a form of mass hysteria as an unacceptable condition over the years. It's a marketing ploy which started with the manufacturers of stacked humbuckers and then, "hum phobia" caught on with the masses through what I call, "web dogma". That is, ignorant propaganda which gathers credibility as it circulates more and more in cyber space.

Hey, I just coined a new phrase! Who here is a, "humophobic"?

The only time I had a problem that bothered me was if I had something plugged in to the same circuit as my amp, and it created additional noise. My gear is pretty quiet on its own. :D
