I have been looking at the fender american vintage series stratocasters and I kind of like the 57 or 62

What are the not so obvious details for both?

I allready have an 82 57 reissue stratocaster so Im thinking more about the 62.

Are they good for blues and 60's and 70's rock, funk, every style!!

Thanks

If the funds are avaiable, I would go with the 62 Hot Rod series.

I have a 62 American Vintage Reissue in olympic white and love it to death. I play everything on it from metal and rock to blues and fusion and it always pleases. I had a 57AVRI but I found the neck not too comfortable and find the 60s C neck much more ergonomic.

They are very similar. The only not-so-obvious detail I can think of might be the routing for the vol/tone controls; the '62 has a "shoulder," the '57 doesn't..

In the Hotrod series...the '57 has a very playable neck profile you should audition. If you ultimately do not care for it, niki will take it off your hands and mod it beyond recognition.

ah cmon dont tempt me guys :) , infact im gassing for a strat thats just a strat. The knopfler is tempting me, i .... must....... resist ... my... urge to splurge :D .

Back to the topic.

If you like rosewood boards get the 62. If you like maple boards get the 57. The 57 bodyshpe is wonderfully comfortable though. I have no experience of the 62.

Well, then OF COURSE you should get a '62 Vintage Reissue!

What color do you have in mind?

Rock on!

I agree with MB surfer try the 62 hotrod. We had one at the store and I like the Tone Zone bridge pup. Its got the crunch. I've thought about dropping one into my candy cola strat.

Niki: Have a look at the '58 in Alain's collection. If it is anywhere near what my original was like, and THAT's about the look when it was new, then there you have 'a strat that's just a strat.'

........of course......there's that Harley-Davidson.....motorcycle!!! :?
