Hi, I need somebody help me. A friend of mine is selling an american stratocaster, its s/n is Z3071962. I need to know the model of this guitar. I tried to fiend this guitar in Fender cathalogs and magazines and in the internet even, but i couldn't find nothing about this guitar. It has the follow configuration: HSS, 5way switch and a mini push push switch. Was it modified? Tks You can check the guitar here:

Going by the Serial its an 03 04 American series but the mini push switch befuddles me unless its the S1 switch in the volume pot. Fender did put out some American series with that configuration in 03. A picture would help. If its a small white push button located near the 5 way it could be associated with some active electronics in the pickups and that sounds like a mod to me.

We here at Fender Forums love photos. If you could post some people may have a better understanding of what we're dealing with.

Thanks,
Ben

It may be an earlier version of the super or power strat. :? Fender makes changes in designs and specs as they go forward.

The ad says it has Seymour Duncan pickups. The button may be associated with the electronics is all I can think of.

Which is why I'm thinking it may be one of the earlier editions of the "Deluxe" series guitars. Give this thread some time. I expect someone will pick up on this and finish the job.

Based on the links...the Deluxe Player is an upgraded version of the SuperStrat which was my original thought. I guess gone from SSH to SSS.
Perhaps one of our trivia specialist will be able to unearth an old catalog description of this guitar. :P

The S# would suggest MIA in 2003 unless the 'MZ' has been altered. :!: :?

They started making the Deluxe Player Strats in 2004 and they are all Mex manufactured and the the Deluxe Super Strat was 1998 to 2003 also MIM they both had the push/push switch for the bridge pickup. The Super Strat came with 3 Fat Strat Single coils and gold hardware and the Players had 3 single coil Noiseless pickups.

...any speculation about the Duncan on THIS guitar or the lack of an "MZ" prefix on the serial number:? :?:

Well, I have reviewed the guitar, and seems that the serial number is not falsified.
