Hello everyone. I have a problem with buzzing when I bend the high e and b string. I have done a proper setup and tried different actions and reliefs, but nothing works. The frets are in good condition too.
Then one day I removed the neck from the body and noticed a fat sticker under the heel, going between the screwholes on the bass side. That makes me wonder if thats the problem? What do you guys think?
The really weird thing is that the sticker is under the laquer. Should I try to remove it?

It sounds like somebody has put in a shim. From the described position the shim would twist the neck toward the treble side. Now is the noise a real buzz or are the strings "fretting out?" That is, when you bend the notes the strings come into contact with higher frets. That deadens the tone and could produce a buzz. It is more severe with shorter radius fretboards.

It could be that somebody shimmed the neck to minimize the problem you're having. On the other hand, the shim could be causing the problem. That's where I shut up and recommend taking it to a trained technician.

Thanks for the reply
yes its a slight fretout when i bend the strings and considering it's a 9,5" radius I don't really think it should be that way. My other 9,5" strat has absolutely NO buzz whatsoever

If it is a paper sticker, on or under the lacquer, then it is almost certainly a QC sticker from the building process. It ain't going to be causing a problem: other adjustments are far bigger than the thickness of paper.

Take it to a good tech and get it set up from scratch. Not too expensive and your guitar should play fabulously afterwards. If he's in a friendly mood he might let you watch what he does. Everyone has slightly different methods: there's always stuff to learn.

Cheers - C

I would tend to believe it's a setup issue also.

I'm driving that car that's still going down the empty highway. Never run with the crowd - and just about to drive into a huge hole that opened up...
