Hey I have a Strat that I bought a couple of days ago with the serial number mn6xxxxxx. I checked on this site and it says the Mexican version is mn6 + 5 digits, where mine is mn6+6 digits. Does this mean my guitar is a fake? Any help would be appreciated...here is a few pics..click on them for higher resolution

It looks to me like a fender squire series guitar that someone has removed the squire series logo from where american guitars say custom contour body.
The logo's identical to mine (black writing, fender mim had the spaghetti logo)
my serial no' is mn5xxxxxx
the tuners are identical to mine too.

great guitars, mines always with me even after 13 years of ownership.

Hey thanks! So is this guitar from 1996? I'm confused cause i didn't think they made Squier guitars in Mexico . How would this compare to a normal MIM that they make today?

Edit: I think I found the answer here and it seems your correct http://reviews.ebay.com/Buying-a-Fender ... 0001650626 (look near the bottom of the page)...I only payed 150$ for it, so it's not that big of a deal but a little disappointing the tuners and bridges are of lesser quality than the real MIM. Also Do you know what pickups it has?

Thanks

Thankyou Eggsalade. That was a very informative read and answered a few questions i had. Their a cracking guitar, mine gets more use than my vintage hotrod or baja tele. I'd jump at the chance to buy another if i found one in the uk. Everything on mine is upgraded except the saddles and tuners, i've never had a problem with em.
