Hello all!

I was thinking, since Hanukkah will come quicker than a blink of an eye, i might be coming into some 'gilt,' and no, not the kind of 'guilt' when you feel when you should have paid more for that MiM instead of the squier. If i do get enough money, what do you think is the best bet for my squier:

New pickups (i want something with a little more vintage bite to it) or
A wah (i want to sound like Clapton/Hendrix, plus i want to make solos more colourful and attractive)?

With new pickups, my guitar will sound more alive and dynamic, and my current squier pickups hum A LOT, and they sound kinda thin, especially on overdrive, where it can get muddy.

With a wah, it's more fun and i don't have to go to a tech to get it installed, and it only adds so much color and variation to my playing.

I know i am counting chickens before they hatch, but i just wanted to know something from the pros- *cough* Ceri *cough* cough* Chet *cough*

:D

get some scn's. great tone, versatile and quiet. If your squire pickups sound bad now all their gonna sound like with a wah is wah'd bad pickups.

wah's are nice toys but they do become a crutch.

I would recommend the pickups. Wah pedals are fun but they are more of an 'icing on the cake' kind of thing in my opinion. Your guitar should sound good before you start adding effects. Also, a lot of people get into the habit of using wah pedals to cover mistakes in lead playing so it may actually have some negative affects on your playing.

i kind of agree.

IN a perfect world, i would have a set of custom shop '69 stratocaster pickups and a Vox V848 Clyde McCoy Picture Wah reissue. But, that would cost me (or my parents) about well over 300 bucks.

Maybe in time, i will get a wah or other effect. I have recognized the tone that i am searching for, and i better improve my current tone rather than cover it up.

But, oh... the sweet solo in White Room.... :D
