Took the hotrod apart today to give the neck a tweak, the body a good wax polish and generaly have a nose around the insides to see how fender perform on their high end guitars. I can say after hearing some horror stories concerning routing and paint finish's in control cavities, that im pleasantly suprised. The paintjobs great all the way through and the routing is absolute minimal. Even the usual funny circular route for jigging isn't present.
Anyway heres the sentimental bit.
I bought the guitar with some inheritance money left to me from my dad. Among certain factors in my decision on which guitar were the facts that my dad loved fifties music, styles, cars. His two favourite players were Hank Marvin and Mark Knopfler both of whom are known for red strats. When i took the guitar apart this evening i noted the dates on the pickguard, neck and body. The pickguard is dated 8,June,07. The neck and body are both dated 6,june 07 my dads 60th birthday. Bit of a coincidence eh?

After my mum died we put most of my inheritance towards the mortgage. My wife said I should spend a bit of it on a nice guitar, but I just couldn't bear to for a long time - it felt like getting a pressie out of the passing of my mother. I couldn't face the sensation that there was a silver lining to that event.

Then, finally, I bought a guitar after all with a little of those funds. And it turns out to mean a great deal to me, almost as if my mum gave it to me personally.

Strange things, emotions, aren't they?

Enjoy your red Strat, man!

- C

Awesome story my man. A very cool affirmation that you did indeed choose the "right" guitar. I'm sure your Dad was grinning when the date was revealed.

 That is an awesome coincidence to say the least. 57 Hot-Rods are breath-taking instruments, especially in candy apple.

Took me 5 months of having the money in the bank before i could spend it. My dad was asking me 'let me buy you a watch or a ring or a bracelet'. My reply was always 'dad dont waste your money on something i'm going to love but never use' (i never wear jewelery). So yeah i think he would of been smiling.
I'd like to believe it was fate, karma or some kind of ethereal experience but i just dont believe in that stuff. Lets call it a pleasant coincidence eh. :)

Cheers for the support guys.
