Oh yeah.....the guy that finally did the work for me was in Berkeley, California. Nice guy.....sort of reminded me of Maynard G. Krebs from the "Dobbie Gillis" TV show (now that really dates me).

I am pretty good friends with my guitar tech, I give him $20-$40 depending on what it needs. I have been learning from him a lot and reading a lot of information about proper set ups and am going to do my next set up myself.

Bring it by. We can visit as I set it up.

Make sure you bring an extra guitar and I'll let ya plug into my Blues Jr while you wait.

Well, all my guitar work has all just been done.....but I'll surely keep you in mind for the future. But.......I imagine we can always visit sometime. Not like I have to fly in from London or anything.

You are more than Welcome to stop by and visit. Maybe we can pic or two as the first Fender Forum members to get together and post them here.

Deal........we'll have to get that going, once you're up and running again. Seems like you're getting better now.

Sounds good. Let me get my health back on track. I am doing much better, but I still have some healing to go yet.

seems like your all getting a deal. Its £50 here at most run of the mill places. I charge £50 on the basis of "the guitars not done till its better than new" and have only had one customer who wasn't totaly satisfied the first time he came to pick it up. The next day he was grinning though. The 2 guys i use when i want my guitars pampered both charge £75. They do get the works though. Neck angled(if needed) trussrod adjusted, fret dressed and polished. So its worth paying for once in awhile.

I had a bit of deja-vu when I saw this thread again. If you have a really special instrument you might want to get a well known top shelf tech to do your work.

Through the years, I've met some really good techs/luthiers such as Jim Mooradian, Phil Jacoby, Martin Miranda, Tim Schroeder and J.W. Black to name a few, but these guys are some of the best at what they do and charge accordingly.

The local shop also does set-ups; had them set-up my MIA with .12s after I used my one-free-set-up at Daddy's. They did a great job, cost me $40; however, they're even impressed by the set-ups that Daddy's does. The guys up in Nashua are great; brought my SG there for a quick set-up (had some fret buzz) and the hardware on the bigsby was loose, but I didn't want to send it out, since it was my main guitar. The store manager did it for me. :)
