Just caught a film on TV of Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's Club (London) on a residency he played there earlier this year. Very cool, and well worth a watch whether you're a devoted fan or not.

Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, Vinnie Colaiuta doing all the stuff on drums Sting would never let him; Clapton turns up to do a number at the end ("I may as well go home!" quips Beck). Audience full of rock glitterati. All Beck's current material done very nicely.

I notice there is a CD of the shows coming out in November but no mention of a DVD. So keep an eye out for it on a music channel near you - an hour well spent.

Cheers - C

I have heard the audio, from three nights, November 27, 29 & 30, 2007, including the Clapton set. I believe it was billed as Six Shows in Five Days.

Great stuff from Beck's entire career. I hope there will be a DVD!

Thanks for that gentle correction: it was filmed last year was it?

I'm not such a total fan, actually, but it was a great set to see. Ronnie Scott's is such a small space the cameras couldn't get far away even if they tried so it was nice and intimate and you could see a lot of the detail we'd all want of fingers and such.

I've found when I've seen him live that Beck's shy personality doesn't project far into a big audience (though his sound obviously does!): a small club setting seemed ideal, especially as he appeared to know at least half the audience!

I wonder where you heard the audio you spoke of, Orville?

Cheers - C

It's circulating among the so-called "tape trading" crowd. Google it and you may find some of those sets.
