I play everything from jazz, lots of blues, pop, country, hard rock and hi-gain metal. I have a single-sized SD JB Jr in mine that I can split when I want. Btw that and me Rectoverb, I've never had any problem with awesome tone, lowe noise or versatility with it - in the studio or playing large venues.

you can coils split the single size humbuckers?
i thought only the full size hbs?
when you coils split, into a single, do you get the hum back?

im very intersted in the jb jr and lil 59

You can absolutely split them. In fact, more than just splitting it to be either single or humbucker, I had my middle tone knob wired as a volume fader for the inner coil of that JB Jr. So at 0, it's pure single. At 5 it's single with half the inner coil dialed in, sort of a P90-ish sound, and at 10 it's a full humbucker - and all the little sweet spots in between for whatever gain level I happen to want. I end up having it around 4 or so most of the time. Single tone but just a little thicker.

JB Jr is great, very clear sounding, great harmonics. The Lil 59 is a little thicker tone and a tad less output. You can get that schematic for the coil fader and also sound samples from seymourduncan.com

And yeah, when it's in single mode (or dialed down), you'll get that little hum of course. I can hear that slowly fade when I dial that extra coil up.

If I wanted pure singles and no noise at all, I'll probably just get a lace sensor for the bridge (which I have on the next and mid anyway), or noiseless pickups.
