The truss Rod in my american deluxe strat may be stripped (I have to test different sized hex keys). If it is, can it be replace and what is the cost?

Take it to a shop that has this tool kit.
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Speci ... e_Kit.html
I have borrowed this repair tool from a local luthier who gives me some over flow work at times so I could fix a truss rod for someone and it does work just as they say. If I had more call for it I would buy one but since I no where I can get one :D Check your local shop.

unfortunatly it would quite expensive i have had the same problem but i am a guitar tech so i can fix them easy u just need the right tools if its realy that bad u might have to have a new neck fitted it might have chewed the inside of thr groves in the neck were the truss tod is held in place so be careful and get it checked out.

You guys have been helpful. I just spoke with the guitar tech at Sam Ash (an authorized Fender repair shop) and he tells me that the only problem is with the nut. He stated that it wouldn't require removing the fingerboard but it might be a little messy because there a rubber piece that needs to be heated and then removed to take the nut out and replace it. He estimated it to be anywhere from $65 to $300 depending on how long it took (he said it varies from guitar to guitar). I love the guitar so much that it seems worth it to me, and this guy has done good work for me in the past so if I find my neck warping and I am unable to turn the rod...I'll take it in. Thanks for your help guys. Fender RULES!

What made you think that it was a stripped trussrod?

That's what he initially told me, not in great detail onviously. When I caught up with him he was more specific.
