No I would not consider that to be normal.

I always intentionally bend my trems to be lower to the body than stock but they are very hard to bend. I have never once had one bend unintentionally. They're not expensive, you might try buying a new one. Just be sure the threads are right and don;t strip the threads on your block putting the new one in.

Could it be linked with a new set of strings, bigger than before, and you didn't properly adjust the trem?

Ben.

Clearly, you have the tremolo set up too tight. Remember, by design, when Stratocasters first came out back in 1954 and all the way through the mid 1970s, they all came OEM with a full .012 gauge string set and 5 installed tremolo springs.

The fact that your arm is continually bending also means that the arm now has metal fatigue. Eventually, it will snap and I venture to guess that the threaded area which screws into the block is now bent or at the very least, warped. Moreover, you are also stretching and distorting the threaded hole in the block along with its threads with each push or pull of the arm.

DO NOT keep using it the way!

loosen those trem springs (or take one off and readjust as necessary). Brother your stuff is cranked waaaaaay too tight.
