Strat look a likes are just that. If someone cannot afford a Fender, then they have to get what they can. They say copying something is a high complement. I will never own another one now that I own a Fender Stratocaster, there is a significant difference.

Of course, some guys attempt to make "high-end" Stratalikes... using bodies and necks from high quality vendors such as Warmoth or USACG and boutique bridges and pickups. That's the only option if you want something like a thinline Strat, exotic woods, or doublenecks!

I'd swap my MIM 50's strat for a Tokai springy sound!

Too cool!

The springysound's of 79-83 were far superior instruments than the fender counterparts of the time. I'd personaly give my right leg for one.

I like strat copies and tele copies. When i was a kid they were the only guitars you had a chance of owning. Even squire were out of my price range and weren't too good either.

Even though it has a pretty timeless design, even a "real" strat has made, and continues to make changes, (hopefully that are improvements). I take it only as a compliment that other manufacturers want to copy a near perfect design. As mentioned, some of them are of such high quality that the choice is quite subjective.

I love Fender, but that is emotional as opposed to objective.

I have a Silvertone strat knockoff. For what I paid for it (< $150), it's a fantastic guitar. Decent pickups, great neck. The tuners suck, but I did pay less than $150 for it.
