Hi, StrokesFan. Why haven't you modded your guitar for years? Is it because it sounds fine? If so, leave well alone! Nothing wrong with a stock Strat: in fact, it will become very attractive for that very reason over the years.

But if you don't like something about it - what? The pickup sound? What don't you like - what do you want more of? If you just ask for suggestions for different pickups you will get twenty posts with twenty different ideas, which will get you no further forward. Give us more to go on: what sounds are you chasing? What music do you like? Such as you have already named would seem to go with stock Fender pickups, I'd have thought. For that matter, what pickups do you have at present?

And the same goes for anything else you might mod on your guitar. Have an idea what you don't like about your bridge, nut, tuners, pots, switch or strap buttons before you think about looking for something different.

More focused questions will produce more useful answers - we love to help!

Good luck - C

And it could be the amp needs changing to change the tone. Like Ceri said, if you like it, don;t mess with it. At resale time, that will be a better thing.

Modding is a fun hobby. It can be addicting though. In answer to your pickups question, I have learned most from the Seymour Duncan Forum:

http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/

They are very informative and the people on there know a lot about all sorts of pickups, not just SD ones. This is also a great place to find cool wiring ideas.

Hardware is easy to mod and gives your guitar a unique look. Start with a new pickguard, volume/tone knobs, and guitar strap knobs. After that you can move to the tuners.

Good luck.

Have you ever used a soldering iron on electronic components?

I have modded everything on my newest strat ...from experience I believe that stock guitars arent for everybody :P:P you might like how a stock guitar sounds and feels and all but when you gain experience with different guitars usually you will end up liking different parts and different guitars.... so then it is when you feel like having a guitar with all the features you really like like pickups, wood type, switchs etc.......
