Hi folks. I've been lurking here for a while trying to absorb as much as I can to better understand Fenders. I'm glad to have finally found a forum that has such a robust knowledge base.

In any event, I finally took the plunge and bought a Strat. Judging from the serial number, it looks like its an 89. Dunno specifically which trim level though, so I've attached pics. This guitar was the best sounding out of a dozen and a half I've tried over the last couple of months. I hope to learn as much as I can on this guitar and at this site.

Cheers!!!

Hi, welcome to the Forum.

Nice pix! Looks to be in very good condition for an '89, well done. How do you find that nut?

Cheers - C

Great guitar. Older MIA's always have a place in my heart :)

Great playing and sounding guitars, to be sure. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new best friend. That guitar will be there for you through thick and thin, and always be ready to make you instantly feel better just by picking it up.

Welcome aboard Vicious
From the one pic, it looks to be an American Series Strat. You can't go wrong with one of them.

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks. Yeah, I'm loving her. The tone coming out of this twenty-something is awesome and just wants me to play her for hours on end.

I will be apart from her for a day or two while I get her professionally set up and re-strung. I hope to learn as much as I can and I know that she will treat me well.

Ceri: The nut seems fine. I tried to compare it to a friend's Strat equipped with a regular nut and being a bit of a novice, I can't really tell if there are differences. I was told that the guitar will stay in tune with this nut, though, especially if I bend a lot.
