Nope, don't see the point.
Yes he is a great and influential player
But the Gilmour Strat is nothing really special over a regular Strat (by that I mean no wazoo mods or upgrades)

Is that entirely accurate? I thought they including an extra switch that will enable you to use the bridge and neck pickups at the same time. That seems like a pretty cool upgrade to me.

Mine was delivered last week but only got to plat her today - just got back from Bangkok.

It is a special guitar, apart from the switch which can link neck and bridge it has a couple of custom wound pups. The guaitar has many mods done by DG from when he first bought and is copied onto the signature strat.

It plays beautifully and feels good straight away

Not worth the price tag IMO.

AS you know everyone buys the guitar that they want! I'm sure you did the same thing and I am also sure someone does not like your pick! That's life. There is no one guitar or price for everybody. I bought one to go along with my meager collection and I love it as well as the rest of them.
I hope you enjoy your guitar and that you are satisfied with the price you think it's worth. Good day my fellow poster and(hope) friend! :) 8)

Well if that is the case, it might be neat if it didn't cost so dang much

Hi, F: have you posted a pic? I must have missed it: do you recall which thread? How do you like the extra pickup positions?

Cheers - C

Go to the Custom Shop Forum. There you'll find two threads. You can also search this topic in archives. Pick up on the last '90K' years of our discussions on this since the rumours began flying until reality finally raised its head. It's quite a bit of reading but have fun.

By the way.....I finally succumbed to these guys and ordered my NOS yesterday :P

G.A.S. (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) you know. You'll learn more about that in your readings.

How do you recognize it?

Well.... It begins with: "Hello??? Is there anybody in there????

Doc

Really? How interesting - and after everything you've said about shortage of space. GAS indeed!

I seem to recall you said the wife was to be out of town for a spell. Any coincidence?

 - C

Just assessing what I will have room for in future, Ceri. Don't have a vault the likes of alain's to retreat to. Just as with niki and the Harley, sometimes compromises have to be made. In assessing the guitars I gave up, I think the Gilmour is the better choice.

Now if we can just get your photo into a 'Darkside of The Moon' promo, THAT would be super!!
