Hello and welcome to the Forums.
I have DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track humbuckers (same size as single coils) in my Strat and they are great for Metal.

I play a lot of different music, and play some very loud, very hi-gain music with it as well. I have a Seymour Duncan JB JR in the bridge position on my 98 Strat. It is a single-coil size, but it's a humbucker. It can take any gain my Mesa Boogie or Soldano gives it and sounds amazing.

The Seymour Duncan Lil 59 has a little thicker sound though. I'm sure there are many others good, but this works well for me in the studio and live for large venues.

I have a SD hot rails (single coil size) in the bridge position of my Squier and it really handles heavy stuff nicely.
