I know this has nothing to do with the forum topic but maybe somebody on here will know. I have a mint condition 1970 Lotus strtocaster. Could anyone tell me just how much its worth?? It is 100% original (except for strings obviously) and I need to know how much it is worth. Can anyone help me?

I've got a Highway One Strat and I love it. It's light, resonant, and bendy with the jumbo frets, and that's what I do a lot. I got new pickups - Texas Specials. The oem pickups were noisy in the non hum-cancelling slots, and although they had their own good sound, lacked the classic Strat tones that I craved and my Tx Specials deliver in abundance. Also a good reason to get the guitar is the overall quality of the build. Sure, it's got cheaper tuners than the American, but mine never go out of tune. If the tuners are too loose, and go out easily, you can just tighten them with that little screw there in the middle. Love it. Great quality American guitar at a budget price, even after getting new pickups.

That's a ditto on the HWY1! 8)

I really like the 70's look my black 06 with rosewood FB. The reason I say HWY1 is that I like the four bolt on the neck joint better than the 3 bolt. Supposedly it helps the tone and sustain because there is a firmer connection. Not sure if that's true, but it has some logic to it. So far I haven't been too tempted to do any major hotrodding yet. If I do it will be Texas Specials or '69s.

I have relic'd it some.

I used bees wax and left it on the neck for 10 minutes. Wiped it off and now it plays like a dream. My rosewood fret board is definetly not dry anymore.

Strat58cat:

I hear ya on the stock p-ups when it comes to tone. I was expecting a slightly more classic strat sound, right now (before adjustment either by myself or a pro) they are a bit harsh compared to my ´95 MIM Std Strat and my friend's MIM Classic 60's Strat. Maybe my Boss GE-7 EQ in the loop will take some of that away. For now I use the tone controls to dial out some of the harshness. I'll definitely consider investing in more vintage sounding p-ups in the future.

I really like the build quality (no sharp fret ends, no improperly set frets, no wobbly p-ups) and I think it's better than my Worn/Faded SG Special before I had it set up and repaired by a pro. The SG was also bought used.

I put some GHS Fast Fret on the fret board and now it's nice, smooth and dark :)

Check out ebay to see how much others have sold for.

I haven't checked on country of origin, but I'd have to guess a few hundred dollars ($300?) as it's not a highly desired brand.

I've been thinking of retiring my MIM Standard lately. Serious GAS attack!

The thing is the MIM 70's Classic Strat actually costs more than the HWY 1 Strat over here (dunno 'bout the States). Why is that? I thought the US guitars were always the more expensive ones.

What I'm looking for is the groovy CBS style headstock, good p-ups (SSS classic rock Strat sounds) and probably a not too beefy neck (standard c-shape?) since my hands are fairly small.

When it comes to p-ups I know it's hard to describe a sound, but which model has the best ones for that glassy, classic Strat sound? Any thoughts on build quality, playability and sound on these models?

Thanks guys.

Only HWY 1 Strat is good enough!!!
