It's a US Vintage Series made at the Corona plant in the US.

Is it normal that it(he,she) has 22 frets? Which is his(her, your) approximate price? Is it possible to verify it in www.fender.com? Thanks!

22 fret boards are not correct with the american vintage 62 strats. It could be custom shop but it has no customshop logo on the back of the headstock. Maybe a partsocaster. Heres a link to the vintage 62 strat you can see its a 21fret board.

I got this Stratocaster guitar, I think is kind of vintage model, but not reallly sure, because the neck has 22 frets and the access to the thrus rod in the neck. Can you tell me something about it?

Thanks!!

My belief is that that is a counterfeit.

The contours on the back of the neck at the heel and headstock aren't right. A 22 fret, rosewood neck, no skunk stripe, and truss rod adjustment at the headstock?

Point us to better pictures, please. More pictures of the neck pocket and under the pickguard will help confirm.

thanks for that picture of a proper back of neck heel contour, vw.

I'd like to know what's written on that quality inspection hang tag.
An authentic one has the model number on it.

Wow, are counterfeits coming with all those stickers and case candy now? That's scary.

I notice the neck plate is crooked. I'm wondering if it is after all a legit Strat that has had a neck change by a previous owner? The back of the heel is indeed odd, though.

I'd be very interested to hear about the source of this guitar. Just an Ebay purchase, or does Godofredo know the seller? Can you ask questions of the previous owner?

Anyway, welcome to the Forum.

Cheers - C

I am guessing that someone sold that to you as a 62 Vintage Hot Rod but like already said that curve at the heel looks very pronounced for that model guitar to have. Maybe the neck has been change which would make me suspect about the whole thing.

Contact Jeff at:

jkrause@fender.com

Tell him everything you know about the guitar and include serial number etc, and express your concerns/suspicions about it maybe being a counterfiet, and ask if he can verify the guitar.

That is as good as it can get on getting info on it. Also, when you email him, include all of the pictures.

You might also include the link to this thread. Tell him what the link is to, so he can review everything.

Absolutely: this is when those black stealth helecopters depart the Corona plant at dead of night, fly low across the landscape till they reach the location of that guitar, and then... Destroy!

A blaze of fire and it's all over. Another dodgy Stratolike is reduced to ash (not lite ash, obviously).

I've an idea it's past my bedtime... - C
