You might want to try your first build as a modification from another guitar? That's the way that I learned and it was trial and error, but I did learn from my errors.

That's is excellent advice. Modding first; building from parts next; third, buy a neck and build a body for it; last, the ultimate goal - building necks.

No one book covers it all. Those by Martin Koch and Melvin Hiscock complement each other and will get you a good way down the line. f Hopkin's suggestion of the books page at Stewart-MacDonald's website will find you those and many others.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

Another Dr. Frankenstein is born!

Countless days looking for parts for the perfect creation. Often times parts from dead guitars that will never be played again.

Sleepless nights of assembly.

Finally plugging it in to a divine spark.

  IT'S ALIVE!!!

Find a basket case guitar and try refurbing it. That would be an excellent start.

Pawn shops or ebay will get you a cheap squier that will at least stay in tune. Get pickups and parts from ebay and have fun.
